Basement Jaxx
Website:
http://www.basementjaxx.net One of the most successful international UK dance acts, the Grammy and Brit award-winning Basement Jaxx comprise the duo of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe.
Basement Jaxx began life as a club night in Brixton in 1995 and since then has exported its own twisted discoid take on the sounds and influences of SW9 all across the globe. With some five albums, a double platinum greatest hits collection and a whole load of output on their own Atlantic Jaxx under their belt, they have crossed dancefloor and more underground jacking sensibilities with tricksy rhythms, expert production and eclectic influences across such tracks as “Red Alert”, “Where’s Your Head At”, “Romeo”, and “Raindrops.”
Debuting as a fully fledged live act in 1999, Felix and Simon soon became known for their triumphant live performances as their gigs across the world including playing The Hollywood Bowl, closing the main stage at Glastonbury and headlining Hyde Park. Yet the Jaxx retreated from the fully live experience and touring in 2010 to concentrate on their DJing, playing hometown gigs in downtown Brixton, massive US raves, Space in Ibiza and the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. Consistently prodigious and productive, aside from DJing for The Haçienda in Japan, their plans for 2011 include a unique collaboration with a Dutch orchestra (the Metropole Orkest) reworking their material for the first time in February, the first Basement Jaxx movie soundtrack, as well as releasing new material in other guises such as Felix’s recent Italian disco homage, Jon Giovanni and via their Atlantic Jaxx label.
