A renowned DJ across the North West of England from the late seventies, Greg Wilson provides the link from Northern Soul scene to the sounds of the early Hacienda. A progression that many understand as a continuation.

Resident at the infamous Wigan Pier, Greg’s Manchester break came with Wednesday night at the early 80‘s Legends. Gregs breaking of cutting edge US electro brought him to the attention of Piccadilly Radio’s Mike Shaft who asked him to guest for his influential Sunday night radio show. Gregs spots resulted in the first ever uk radio mixes.

For a brief period Greg was resident at The Hacienda in 1983 starting its first dance night and changing the musical policy of the club, but he was to quit to concentrate on his work with hip hop crews, Broken Glass and The Ruthless Rap Assassins.

Greg’s DJ world wide reputation is based partly on his pioneering of re-editing. Initially using reel to reel tape machines in the mid 80’s Greg created edits of disco and electro tracks, which were much sought after by DJ’s and collectors.

The resurgence of interest in re-edits, thanks in part to the re-release of classic disco edits by labels like Nuphonic, led Greg back to the decks in the early Noughties. He has since released two highly acclaimed Credit To The Edit compilations of his mixes, most recently in October 2009.

Greg is back to Djing nowadays with a residency at Funkademia and his earlier passions rekindled, he returned to play for The Hacienda at the DJ Magazine Awards in October 2009 and The Hacienda Christmas Party in December.
