Justin Robertson
With a decadent sense of dance floor humour, taken from his early days on the counter at Eastern Bloc, and honed by seminal Manc Balearic clubs Most Excellent and Spice as well as his experiences with the original Haçienda, Justin’s quirky and individualistic remixing and producing style established his reputation early on with SLD’s 'Gettin’ Out' and Finitribe’s 'Forever Green' bringing on the likes of Bjork and The Sugarcubes, New Order and Plus 8’s John Acquaviva for Justin to put his mits across.
A great pal of many across the Manc music and UK Balearic club network, Justin encouraged the development of The Dust Brothers (latterly renamed 'Chemical') with his choice of disques and shop counter patter. Since leaving the Bloc, he has remained right around the forefront of serious musical style which he has always displayed with his live bands such as Lionrock, innumerable self penned productions and remix projects such as The Art Of Acid and Wall Of Sound’s reggae culture clash project, Two Cultures Collide.
A man of many varied tastes, and a philosophy grad to boot, with a sense of music freedom and adventure that you can't pigeonhole, skipping merrily across Balearic, techno, house, garage pop, grunge and plenty more besides, Justin remains as busy as ever today, living on the cusp of musical politics as with his new band / outfit / persona 'The Deadstock 33s' and a whole host of remixes on the go for the likes of The Whip, The Filthy Dukes, and the Glimmers. With EPs being released on Remute and Bang Gang records, he has also caught the edits bug with Timmy Thomas, Ginno Soccio and Hawkwind the most recent to be touched by the hands of JR.
