It was the club that inspired a musical generation, defined a scene and put dance music firmly on the map in the UK. The Haçienda laid the foundations for clubbing culture as we know it and its reverberations are still felt today, so it comes as no suprise that the Haçienda currently continues to produce events of the highest order to every corner of the globe, combining the finest cutting edge and established DJs / Live acts, recreating the magic, style and hedonistic excess that surrounds the Haçienda.

Originally conceived, founded and financed by Factory Records and New Order, the Haçienda first opened its doors on May 21st 1982 sporting a Factory Records catalogue numbe of Fac 51, and pioneering interior designed by architect Ben Kelly and graphics by Peter Saville.
Not surprising then that all of these forces combined, turning the Haçienda into what is
widely recognised as the birthplace of Acid
House and responsible for shaping the face of
UK club culture as it has since been known.
Through a chain of events that no one could have imagined, the ex-boat showroom on Whitworth Street, Manchester that became the Haçienda and the scene it gave birth to, went on to have one of the biggest impacts on youth culture since the punk movement and is one that is still reverberating today. Through the combination of legendary nights and DJs, it changed clubbing from simply a night out to an intense experience. It was the heady mixture of new music, new ideas, cutting edge design and even new designer drugs that pushed the venue into overdrive and inspired DJs from Sasha to The Chemical Brothers to Laurent Garnier. |
