Basement Jaxx Mix Part B (00:49) by Basement Jaxx

In the second part of their mix for Haçienda Japan, Basement Jaxx follow up with an emotively laid back collection of tracks. Compiled right on time with their mixing dexterity and width of eclectic tastes, this sublime selection concentrates less on vocals track and more on subconsciously constructed grooves.

A chiming intro gives way to Art of Noise’s first ZTT hit “Moments In Love”, followed swiftly by Wizard of Oz samples and unreleased Atlantic Jaxx material in a wide open celebration of all things Balearica that sees the deeply wrought US Moodyman side of dance music teamed up with its jazzier side.

A camp ‘n phunked up remix of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody rears its head midway highlighting the Jaxx’s sense of musical adventure and then the duo return to Ritchie Hawtin-esque subtle, elegant techno acid acid house stylings with Booka Shade, Cirez D and Jerome Sydenham tracks. This then builds towards a melange of decadent rhythms, classical riffs and nuances that brings out the less heard modern classic, Chymera’s “The Rumours Of My Demise” towards the close of a fantastically executed Jaxx mix.
