"Hooky gave me a couple of tracks to go on and that was the one that came most naturally to me. I think it’s got more of a touch of Joy Division to it than New Order really and I started thinking about Iggy Pop and Ian Curtis.

It was quite an unusual way of doing it. Hooky sent me the track and I guess the vocal worked at the very first take and that became the final version. I’d played it to death driving around the Hollywood Hills singing to the ipod, so I kind of wrote the lyrics as I’d gone along.

I honestly tried to think about what Hooky would like. I was pretty sure that Hooky loved being on the road so that’s where that section “I love the road” came from but then it all got a bit surreal.

There were also a few sections which I wanted to sing but Hooky was playing his bass so I thought he might like the space.”

“So Tim very kindly did the vocal and sent it back to me I think its great and he paid me the greatest compliment he could. On the chorus, he said he couldn't think of anything better to sing than the bassline so he just sang that.”
